A man feared drowned has been located safe after an extensive search on Saturday night.
The alarm was raised after his gear was found on the beach after 5pm.
Mandurah police, sea rescue crews and surf living saving volunteers searched for the 69-year-old man, who swims regularly at the beach between Silver Sands and Madora Bay.
The RAC rescue helicopter assisted until about 9pm.
Police coordinated the search from San Remo, where volunteers from Mandurah Surf Life Saving club also scoured the shore.
