The culmination of the SuperTowns project is getting closer as Central Park enters the final stages of construction.
Collie Shire Council will be holding an event to celebrate the official opening of this new facility on Friday, December 16.
The opening will be an alcohol and drug free event offering a fun filled afternoon /evening for the entire community.
South32 Worsley Alumina has provided sponsorship to enable the Shire to host three events in Central Park.
The first of these events will be the performance of star local performers and Australia’s Got Talent finalists, Sisters Doll, supported by award‐winning country performer, Kate Hindle, in the new music shell.
Both Kate and Sisters Doll, who have moved interstate to further their careers, are very excited to come back and play in their home town.
Shire President Wayne Sanford said Council is very excited to partner with South32 to bring Sisters Doll and Kate back to Collie to open this wonderful community asset.
“Having two talented artists, who began their careers in Collie, is a very special and appropriate way to celebrate the transformation of central Collie,” he said.
Singer / songwriter Kate will bring her love of country music into Collie through her own lyrics and melodies.
Glam rock band Sisters Doll have been kept busy in the studio recently recording their new album and are looking forward to entertaining the home crowd.
Vice President Operations, Worsley Refinery, Dino Otranto said South32 was proud to support the opening of this new community hub for Collie, which adds to the ongoing revitalisation of the town centre.
“We’re pleased to be sponsoring this series of exciting family events in Collie that will bring people together and showcase the talents of local performers,” Mr Otranto said.
“We hope everyone, both locals and visitors alike, will enjoy the summer events program in Central Park.”
Other events to be held will include an outdoor movie screening and family entertainment during the evening of Australia Day 2017 and the celebration of Harmony Day in March 2017.
