A Perth man is the toast of the truckies after digging into his own pockets to help big rig drivers stuck in a huge traffic jam in Fremantle.
A crash between a car and a truck on the Stirling Bridge in Fremantle blocked traffic in both directions and caused severe congestion, with scores of trucks having to park up.
The bridge is now clear and traffic is flowing normally - but it seems a random act of kindness has made the time spent waiting that much easier to bear.
Chris de Boer posted a photograph to Facebook showing a man handing out refreshments to truck drivers, turning a long wait into a something worth sticking around for.
"The Aussie spirit is alive and well. Us truckies have been parked up for three hours due to an accident," Mr de Boer wrote.
"A young random bloke went out of his way to buy a heap of water and chips out of his own pocket asking for nothing in return, handing it out to us truckies.
"Thanks mate, you're a legend."
The 'random bloke' is Wolfram Bell, who wrote on 9 News Perth's Facebook page that it was a pleasure to help out.
"I was stuck for two hours and thought to myself instead of getting angry im going to make the best out of this day," he wrote.
"Those guys work hard and will miss deadlines. A bottle of water and some chips might help a bit. Plus this is what we do in Australia, we help each other out."
Main Roads said it has cleared the vehicles involved in the crash and is now working to clean up a diesel fuel spill on the bridge's tarmac.
