SIXTEEN talented young gymnasts from Collie recently travelled to Fremantle to compete in the Police Citizens Youth Club championships with great success.
The BCP boy’s junior division saw Sheymus Carter win a gold trophy for the all around event, three gold medals on floor, vault and parallel bars, silver in the high bar and bronze on rings.
In the BCP Level 3 event, Joshua Meredith clinched gold in the rings, while Dustin Barton took home bronze in the high bar.
The WAG divisions saw the Collie troupe also successful.
In Level 3 Cahri placed fourth in the vault and Alexis fourth on beam.
In WAG Level 4, Gabrielle Amundsen won silver for floor, Merica Kerr won bronze on the bars and Keeley Collier and Zoe Carter both placed fourth on beam.
The younger Level 4 division saw Heidi Ireland claim silver in the vault and floor along with fourth on bars, beam and all around.
Makaela Grau claimed bronze on vault. Emily Davenport place fourth on bars and floor.
In Level 7 Kayla Aitken won silver for her amazing floor routine.
The Optionals levels – Kangaroo Paws round, saw Chloe Barton place fourth in the bars, and Lavenders division saw Alyssa King win silver in the vault and fourth on beam, while Jessica Carter secured silver on the bars.
PCYC gymnastics coach Gerry Barton said she was proud of all the kids, it was a fabulous effort representing the Collie club nicely.
Ms Barton said the students behaved with good sportsmanship.
She would also like to thank the PCYC gymnasts and helpers for coming out in the rain to wash cars last weekend.
