IN blustery conditions a good field of 67 players played for the Collie Ladies Golf Club trophy. The red hot form of late of Eric Annandale was finally rewarded with an impressive win.
Eric who has been close to breaking through for a win now for some time had to survive a close countback with Joe Italiano.
Both players returned +4 and Eric found himself on the right side of a count back for a change. Joe’s hard work did not go unrewarded as he claimed the second place trophy sponsored by the hard working ladies.
Ash Stewart and Regan Old were next with +2 apiece followed by Roger Hunter +1, Greg Bell, Wayne Waywood, Rodney Miller, Ross Davidson and Brett Smith all on square.
The ladies also sponsored the novelties on the day.
Novelties winners: No. 4 Clayton Flynn, No. 6 George Davis, No. 7 Clayton Flynn, No. 14 Grant Downing, No. 15 Corey Old, No. 18 Col Naysmith.
On Tuesday a good field of 39 players took to the course with a close contest ensuring. The winner with 39 points was Colin Giblett. Harry Hadfield and Ray Alp both had 37, followed by Rodney Miller, Trevor McCormick, Joe Italiano and Mun Lye on 35 and Denis Cocker rounded the vouchers out with 34. The best vet on the day went to Roger Hunter with 36 points.
Thursday scroungers saw a close contest at the top of the leader board and fast greens out on the course. Doug Crowe had a point to spare winning with 21. Greg Bell, Frank Battista, Greg White, Steven Farquhar and Rob Roth all returned 20 points and Ed Riley, Ash Hollins and Terry Massara all had 19. Greg Bell won the gross with 38 off the beater.
