The Shire of Collie has been selected to receive a funding boost for scholarships and traineeships.
The council is one of 18 local governments to receive a grant of up to $10,000 to support scholarships for young employees to undertake nationally accredited training under the Country Local Government Fund (CLGF) Youth Development Program.
Shire of Collie corporate services director Allison Fergie said the $2,874 in funding would be utilised for customer services officer Charlee Westwood to undertake training for a Certificate IV in Business.
“This funding boost is important to the Shire as it aids in the recruitment, retention and succession planning for the Shire workforce while developing the skills and knowledge of the young employee that will assist them with their current role and enhance their future career prospects,” she said.
Ms Westwood said the course would provide more experiences and the qualifications to better herself within local government.
