Collie Speedway Junior Sedan driver Seth Hinsey is part of the town’s illustrious reputation for champion racers.
Hinsey said his love of speedway racing hit at an early age, learning the tricks of the trade from birth.
“All of my family has been in speedway since they were little and I just got into it, started going when I was a baby,” he said.
“Since then I’ve been into speedway, into cars and all that.”
From the age of five, his father took him out to bush land around Collie to help him learn how to drive.
Hinsey has driven professionally since the age of 10.
Now 13, he currently races for Collie Speedway and Bunbury Speedway.
In his first New Stars Junior Sedan season, he took out the New Stars Junior Sedans Collie championship as well as highest season points at Collie and Bunbury speedways.
This season, Hinsey won highest season points at Collie Speedway and came second for Bunbury Speedway.
Over the past six months, he went undefeated in the Mid-West championships and won the Far Western championship in Shark Bay.
Hinsey has completed his first six months in Top Stars Junior Sedan racing, joining the Junior Speedway Racing Association.
He is set to race for the state title this week.
His mother Chantelle Hinsey said watching her son race was a nerve-wracking but ultimately rewarding experience.
