A woman has been bitten on the hand by a bull shark at Coral Bay over the weekend while snorkeling.
The woman received minor injuries on Saturday after being bitten by a 1.5 metre bull shark at around 10am.
Fisheries officers are investigating the incident, which was not reported until Monday.
Authorities have issued a "shark warning" for Mauds Point, near Coral Bay as a result.
The woman was bitten while snorkelling approximately 20 metres offshore at Mauds Point.
She swam ashore and was treated for minor injuries at the local nursing station. It's understood she received stitches to her hand.
People in the area have been urged to "take additional caution if they are swimming, snorkelling or diving at Mauds Point, in the Coral Bay area."
They should adhere to any beach closures put in place by the Department of Parks and Wildlife.
Department of Fisheries and Department of Parks and Wildlife officers will monitor the area.
