Collie River Valley Tourist Park has recently made a donation to local firefighters after collecting funds for the use of their dump point facility.
Collie River Valley Tourist Park Manager Patrick Honeywill said the donation was their way of giving back to the community.
“We have people coming through town looking for a dump point and, because we have the only one in town, we normally charge $5 to cover the costs of maintaining it,” he said.
“So, rather than take the $5 from passing through traffic, we asked them to make a donation towards the firies. It has slowly been accumulating and we were able to pass over $400.”
Chief Bush Fire Control Officer Terry Hunter said they were grateful for the donation which will go towards the purchase of fire blankets for the volunteer bushfire brigade members.
