South32 Worsley-Alumina has set up a system for Collie citizens to voice their feedback and concerns.
The company has placed South32 Community Specialist Melissa Tencer at the Collie Chamber of Commerce and Industry for four sessions as a company representative.
The sessions are designed for locals to ask questions/speak to someone from the company about any of their operations.
The representative would then answer questions and provide information on anything related to their queries.
South32 has already held three sessions on Tuesday, April 11, Thursday, April 20 and Wednesday, April 26.
Ms Tencer has set up at the Chamber of Commerce headquarters on those days. The next session in the cluster will be held on Thursday, May 11.
A South32 spokesperson said the sessions were designed to communicate and engage with the local community and to not be seen as a closed door to the public.
“The Worsley Alumina information sessions at the Collie Chamber of Commerce and Industry provide an opportunity to talk first-hand with our Worsley representatives, who are available to answer any questions,” they said.
“We are trialling the sessions so we can better understand the needs of the community and, if they are well received, we plan to hold more in the future.”
Collie Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Glyn Yates said it would help to establish ties between the town and industry.
“I think their decision to do that is great I just hope that the community takes the opportunity to go and try and understand as best they can and if they have got any concerns they raise them with South32,” he said.
