Local group, Our Community Garden, have successfully received a grant to purchase security equipment for their premises in the latest round of Shire of Collie grants.
Our Community Garden treasurer Ellen Corbin said the group were grateful for the grant, which meant they could monitor their grounds after hours and improve safety for those walking through the gardens at night.
“We received just under $800, we will purchase two security cameras and two main security sensor lights, there will be one out the back by the toilets,” she said.
“We will also put one under the gazebo because it will be lovely if people wanted to be in there late evening and a sensor light just comes on as they need it.”
Ms Corbin said hopefully the security equipment will alleviate any future damage to the gardens.
