Lyn Hansen’s School of Dance, Collie have recently welcomed hip hop classes to their class schedule.
Bunbury-based Hip hop dance teacher Jade Hamon, is running the classes in collaboration with the dance school.
Classes are being held at the Scout Hall on a Friday afternoon and have three separate classes that cater for ages four to twelve plus.
Ms Hamon has over 15 years experience teaching a variety of genres of dance and owns a dance school in Bunbury.
“This year I came to teach some hip hop classes for Lyn, and they are going really well,” she said.
“We are doing three classes; four to seven years old, then the next one is eight to 11 and then 12 plus is the next age bracket. This style of dance is suited for both boys and girls.”
Ms Hamon said dancing could have a positive impact on children’s lives.
“It’s a form of expression. My philosophy is to make a second home for kids, for them to come and forget their life for half an hour or so, or just to have somewhere to come where they feel wanted,” she said.
“It’s something that can enjoy, that’s why I opened my school, so kids can have an outlet and have fun and make new friend. It’s also good for them to build self-confidence.”
Owner Lyn Hansen said she decided to start the classes up here after having a lot of inquiries about hip hop classes.
