A Perth left-wing group has described fake anti-Semitic posters that have appeared across the metropolitan area with their logo as "vile".
The flyers, which started popping up around Fremantle, Leederville and Lake Monger on the weekend, claim to be have been authorised by the political group Socialist Alternative.
The posters read: "Jews make up 44 per cent of the richest one per cent. While only making one per cent of the population. #SmashJewishPrivilege."
Lewis Todman from Socialist Alternative slammed the posters.
"We have nothing to do with these flyers and oppose any racist or anti-semitic posters," he said.
"There are particular right-wing groups that oppose any socialist left in Australia."
The group also posted a comment on their Facebook page to clarify it had nothing to do with the posters.
"Obviously we didn't produce or put these up and we are committed to fighting racism and anti-semitism," it wrote.
"Presumably they are made by the sad and desperate far right in an attempt to discredit us.
"If you see this Nazi propaganda or the people putting it up please dispose of them."
Jewish Community Council of Western Australia president David Denver condemned the flyers.
"I don't want to say too much to give whoever posted these posters airtime, but we are concerned there are a small group of people who have these anti-semitic views," he told WAtoday.
"The matter is with the police."
It's not the first time hoax flyers have been circulated around Perth, making unsubstantiated racist claims from a left-wing political group.
Prior to broadcaster and Fairfax columnist Waleed Aly's appearance at the Fremantle Festival in October 2016, posters claiming to be from the Socialist Alliance claimed the co-host of Channel Ten's The Project was a "child molester".
Fremantle councillor Sam Wainwright, a member of the Socialist Alliance, said at the time the flyer was an attempt to smear Aly's name and at the same time associate Socialist Alliance with the false allegations.
He believes the flyer is the work of a far-right group.
"This is a disgraceful attack on Aly and many good people who stand up to racism wherever they find it. It's a toxic combination of hate, Islamophobia, racism and lies," he said at the time.
Only a few months ago, Fremantle resident Roel Looper - whose family suffered during Germany's Nazi regime - voiced his disgust at white supremacist posters being plastered all over the port city ahead of Anzac Day.
The posters in the main tourism precinct feature nostalgic fifties-style illustrations and messages such as 'Proud to be White Australian', 'Are you white? Be proud' and 'White women: be proud of your culture'.
Mr Loopers was on Australia Day 2013 awarded Fremantle Resident of the Year for his community work including volunteering for the Round House, the Fremantle Society and conservation groups.
The photographer grew up in Holland and had migrated to Germany when he was 19 before moving to Australia 35 years ago. He has lived in Fremantle for 25 years.
"When we talk about integration, I am an example of involving yourself in a positive way," he said.
"Having lived in Germany and seen the devastation of the Third Reich and what my family suffered from - it is disgusting to see this happening in Australia.
"My parents had no food, had to walk many kilometres from Amsterdam to find food at the farms. The occupation of Germany affected everyone, there were years of serious hardship."
