ValleyView Residence will soon be saving on their energy costs after switching on their newly installed solar panels last week.
The 300 solar panels were part funded by the fundraising efforts of ValleyView board member Ken Burgess, which was supported by the Collie community and partially funded by a grant from the South West Regional Grants Scheme.
ValleyView executive manager Joy Halleron said the project would save on bills at the residence.
“It will save us a lot of money which will allow us to operate into the future as a functioning business in the community,” she said. .
“I’d like to thank Ken Burgess that promoted all of the fundraising to get the product, which will save us a lot on our energy bills.
“The community fundraised through Ken’s efforts of him knocking on doors, getting everybody to contribute to allow us to get this installed.”
Ryan Daws from Infinite Energy, who supplied and installed the solar panels, said they would take four years to pay for themselves.
