The Department of Transport has announced the Driver and Vehicle Services centre has been relocated from the Collie Courthouse to the town’s Australia Post Shop.
Department of Transport Driver and Vehicle Services A/General Manager Steve Mitchinson said licensing services would officially transition over from Monday, July 24.
“Customers can do much of their licensing business online using DoTDirect – including payments; licence and vehicle status enquiries; change of addresses; and checking demerit points,” he said.
Mr Mitchinson said the post shop would be able to assist community members with driver and vehicle license renewals, driver licence applications, vehicle registrations, changes of address, WA photo cards, temporary movement permit purchases, vehicle ownership transfers, optional vehicle licence plate purchases, and recreational vessel transfers and payments.
The Collie Courthouse will cease conducting Driver and Vehicle Services operations from 1pm on Friday, July 21.
The Collie Public Library will continue to conduct Theory and Hazard Perception tests from 9am to 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
During the March 2017 State Election, Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray and transport minister Rita Saffioti made the promise to keep licensing services in Collie.
Mr Murray said he would like to thank the Collie Courthouse staff for their hard work conducting the services over the past few years.
“I committed to keeping licensing services local during the election and have lobbied hard to deliver this commitment,” he said.
“This will deliver convenience for local Collie people and save them time and money.
“Moving licensing services to Australia Post will also mean the confidentiality of matters at the Collie Courthouse will be better protected.”
Alert Driving driving instructor Anna Farrell said the changes would not impact her driving school business apart from a change of venue from next month.
