The award was presented to the centre in Perth on Friday night at the PCYC state awards.
Collie PCYC Manager Linda Gallagher said she felt in disbelief when it was announced that Collie had taken out the top award.
“The judges take into account all of the programs we have put on in the last 12 months, attendances, how all the programs are operating, the partnerships we have running, they look at everything. It is a great reflection on the amazing team we have at the centre” she said.
Collie PCYC volunteer Kristy Milne was recognised as senior volunteer of the year nominee, Chloe Barton-Wade was nominated for junior volunteer of the year, and Dennis Thompson was nominated for employee of the year.
Ms Gallagher said the community has noted a change in the behaviour of the children who have been attending PCYC run programs.
“The feedback from the community is that behaviour of the kids that are coming here has changed as well for the positive,” she said.
New volunteers are always welcomed at the centre.
