The City of Busselton is calling on producers in the South West to complete a short online survey that will capture information to support passenger and airfreight services out of Busselton-Margaret River Airport to international destinations.
Through funding received from the South West Development Commission, the city is undertaking detailed -market analysis into airfreight potential.
The results will be used to develop business cases to pitch to various international carriers capable of flying to South East Asian destinations, including Denpasar, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
City of Busselton mayor Grant Henley said airfreight had the potential to be a catalytic investment, lower the cost of doing business in the region, open new markets and attract new firms to capitalise on the services available.
Mr Henley said direct flights to international destinations provided access to new and growing markets and would enable small businesses to compete in larger markets.
“The BMRA represents an opportunity to open up the region to these growing airfreight markets and to become the investment hub of the South West,” he said.
“I encourage producers to take part in the survey to assist the city in making international services out of the Busselton-Margaret River Airport a reality.”
The survey link is available until Friday, September 1 from the Busselton Margaret River Airport website busseltonmargaretriverairport.com.au/developmentproject/project-news.
The survey can also be accessed from the City’s Your Say Busselton yoursay.busselton.wa.gov.au.
Enquiries about the survey and airfreight opportunities can be directed to City of Busselton business development manager Emma Heys at emma.heys@busselton.wa.gov.au.
