Collie’s Safety House committee are urging the community to consider registering to become a Safety House. Fairview Safety House Coordinator Kristy Milne is hoping to spread the word about the importance of Safety Houses in the community.
There are currently 60 registered Safety Houses in Collie, which are there to help children and adults if they find themselves in trouble and needing a safe place to go.
Mrs Milne said to become a registered Safety House you need to obtain a Working With Children’s Check, which can be obtained through the organisation. “You need to have an easy access doorway so people feel invited, and also to be home during school drop-off and pick-up hours,” she said.
“Safety House has rules to ensure the safety of the child and the safety of the occupants of the home.”
Mrs Milne said people who register to become a Safety House will receive an information pack, explaining everything they need to know. For more information go to; safetyhousewa.org.au.
