Collie is preparing for an influx of motorbikes during the Collie Motorcycle Festival being held this weekend.
The event aims to increase public awareness of motorcyclists, raise funds to support the Royal Flying Doctor Service and promote the Collie River Valley region.
Visitors will begin to arrive from Friday, September 22, making the most of the weekend’s events, which include; historic motorcycle racing, rider safety training, country-style hospitality and motorcycle-themed markets and displays.
Sunday’s program begins with motorcycles gathering at the Collie Visitor Centre at 9am to embark on a 32-kilometre procession throughout the town and district, ending up in Forrest Street for a public display of several hundred motorcycles of all makes and types.
The Collie Motorcycle Festival will feature displays of the latest motorcycles from various shops. Motorcycle accessories and equipment will be available for purchase.
All manner of interesting things will be on offer in the Sunday Markets, with Forrest Street traders staying open until 2pm, market stalls, food and drinks, as well as emergency vehicles and radio-controlled racing displays.
The sale of donated new and used motorcycle gear and a sausage sizzle will help raise much-needed funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
WA motorcyclists have also donated good quality used riding gear for sale, with all proceeds going to the Royal Flying Doctors Service. Free rider safety training sessions are being offered at the Collie PCYC on Sunday.

The Collie-Valley Youth Advisory Committee is joining in the spirit with Buskers and Brass to entertain the crowds from the Bendigo Bank Music Shell.
The combined Collie and Bunbury Schools Brass Band will perform in the morning followed by buskers from Collie and the surrounding region.
The Historic Competition Motorcycle Club is holding a test and tune day on Saturday, 23 September, in readiness for the State Championships on Sunday and Monday at the Collie Motorplex.
Forrest Street will be closed between Harvey and Steere Street roundabouts from 8am to 2pm on Sunday, 24 September, to ensure rider and public safety for the motorcycle display.
