Community projects ranging from a promotional video on Collie through to the town’s annual Christmas Pageant are among the latest recipients of Premier Coal’s Community Support Program.
The Premier Coal Community Support Committee, made up of community and workforce representatives, meet this month to assess a large number of applications before deciding to provide financial support to six community projects and in-kind support to another two.
The Collie River Valley Marketing Association received funds to help produce a promotional video on the Collie area while the Lions Club of Collie received funds to help run the annual Christmas Pageant and Markets, set for 6 December.
Other projects to receive financial support were the 2017 Collie Show on 18 November, the new PROCURE South West event on 24-25 November, concrete pathways at Collie’s Our Community Garden, and new goals for the Collie Underwater Hockey Club.
In-kind support will be provided to the Collie Golf Club, which will receive a second-hand trailer to assist with course maintenance, and St Brigid’s School, which will receive materials to help build a nature playground.
Premier Coal General Manager Bill McKinstrey said the company was pleased to be able to help worthy community groups and projects.
Applications for the next round of Premier Coal’s Community Support Program close on 28 February 2018.
