The action will be fast and furious this weekend as 40 Iron Men and Women, and 35 plus race teams descend on Minninup Pool to test their mettle against the five race elements in the Collie Rotary Club’s Adventure Race.
The action gets underway at 9am on Saturday morning and will include canoeing, road racing, mountain biking, swimming and running in the five stage long course event.
The long course comprises of seven categories for Ironman (M&F), open teams, female teams, veteran and super veteran teams, under 18 and battle of the businesses.
With all legs of the 2017 Collie Adventure Race starting and finishing at Minninup Pool it promises to be an exciting time for spectators, so bring the family out to watch all the action. Presentations for the categories will follow at the Collie Golf Club at the conclusion of the racing.
Sunday promises to be as equally exciting to watch with the short course and junior events kicking off at 8.30am and 9.30am respectively.
Three times Paralympian Brad Scott has been catching up with primary school students this week during his visit to town and it is hoped this will encourage participation in the junior event on Sunday morning. Brad, who hails from Bunbury, represented Australia in the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Paralympics, winning silver at the 2008 Beijing games for athletics.
There is no charge for spectators to come and watch the excitement, and there will be food, coffee and soft drinks available to purchase on both days.
