The Collie Heritage and Menshed Group have donated a custom handmade wooden bench to the ValleyView Residence, to be positioned at the front of their Vernon Street premises.
Collie Heritage and Menshed Group chairperson John Vlasich said the group were approached by the Riverview Residence Collie board to see if they would be able to make the bench to custom fit a space out the front of Valleyview.
“We are part of Collie and part of the work we do is to do some volunteer work for the community, so we were pleased to take it on board and this is the result and we are pleased to be able to help out,” Mr Vlasich said.
“It took about six weeks to make, because we only work a couple of days a week. It was a team effort.” The bench was made from recycled Jarrah which had been donated to the Menshed.
The Menshed installed the bench at Valleyview last Wednesday. Staff from Valleyview Residence thanked the men for their donation and said residents, visitors and staff will enjoy using the bench to sit outside.
