The Collie Golf Club has received a grant to help fund their new FootGolf program.
Member for Collie-Preston Mick Murray visited the club on November 19 to hand over the cheque and take in the soccer-golf hybrid.
The Collie Golf Club received $5000 under the ‘Local Projects, Local Jobs’ program which helps fund small projects that help support community organisations.
The Collie Golf Club used the grant to cover the costs of registering with FootGolf Australia, designing a course and purchasing the necessary equipment.
President of the Collie Golf Club Regan Old said the aim of the project was to get younger members through the doors of the club, which currently has an “aging membership”.
Mr Murray said the grant would help the club attract a more diverse membership.
“The ‘Local Projects, Local Jobs’ grants have been great for supporting sporting clubs like the Collie Golf Club take on new projects or replace or purchase new equipment,” Mr Murray said.
“The FootGolf initiative the club has kicked off is a great example of what these grants can do for our local clubs.
“This investment will broaden the club’s appeal and hopefully see it on its way towards a more prosperous future.”
