Allanson local Chloe Craker was presented her silver medal for the World Skills competition at a lavish breakfast at Crown Perth last week.
The Collie Senior High School year 11 student was presented with her medal by Education and Training Minster Sue Ellery in front of a large crowd at the event.
Chloe had finished second in the cooking category at the regional World Skills competition in Bunbury last June. The competition required the six competitors from around the South West to prepare a three-course meal that included an entree of bruschetta, a chicken breast with duchess potatoes for the main course and a lemon polenta cake for dessert.
The regional World Skills competition is open to people undertaking an apprenticeship or studies for a qualification in a range of trades including construction, creative arts and fashion, engineering and cooking.
Chloe said she didn’t find the competition too challenging or stressful and was pleased with the way her dish turned out on the day, however she also said she wasn’t sure whether becoming a professional chef was in her future.
Chloe’s mother Carissa said she was “very proud” of her daughter and that it was a good experience to see Chloe rewarded.
