It’s our favourite time of the week – a step back in time to reflect on the changes in our region, the faces and the fun that was being had during the month of April 1998.
There was a lot going on in the region at the time.
The biggest story at the time was the opening of the Premier Coal mine on April 21, 1998.
Also in April, hundreds flocked to Soldier’s Park for the annual ANZAC Day commemoration service.
After winning the 1997 South West Football League premiership, Mines Rovers began the 1998 season with by taking out the preseason night premiership.
Channel Nine was also in town for two days, with John Barnett and a film crew checking out all of Collie’s sights for an episode of the travel show Postcards.
