It’s our favourite time of the week – a step back in time to reflect on the changes in our region, the faces and the fun that was being had during the month of August 1998.
There was a lot going on around the Collie region at the time.
Collie was picked to launch a new internet program designed to link regional business enterprise centres with small businesses in the local area.
At the same time, the shire called for community input on whether the structure of the shire council should by abolishing wards and reducing the number of councillors, as well whether the Shire of Collie should be renamed as the Town of Collie.
August also saw the running of the Collie to Donnybrook and Return Cycle Classic, with 18-year-old Ben Godridge breaking the race record by almost two minutes.
What do you remember about August 1998?
