It’s our favourite time of the week – a step back in time to reflect on the changes in our region, the faces and the fun that was being had during the month of September all the way back in 1998.
There was a lot going on around the Collie region at the time.
Collie Police were busy at the time, cracking down on motorists who failed to obey the newly-erected 40km/h speed signs around schools, while also keeping an eye out after two counterfeit $100 notes were found in town.
The Collie community spirit was on show as residents banded together to help a young family who lost their house and belongings to a fire.
And to cap it off, Mines Rovers had the last laugh as the Eagles defeated Collie by a single point in a thrilling SWFL league elimination final, but they weren’t able to carry that momentum as they fell the following week to Busselton.
What do you remember about the month?
