Two-bowl singles popular

THE Tom Edwards two-bowl singles has again proved to be a very popular event at the Collie Bowling Club.

Thirty players, including seven ladies, took part.

The section play format was used and about 40 per cent of games were decided by a tie-breaker played over three ends. The eventual winner was Rodney Garner who beat Brian Butcher on the last end of another tie-breaker.

The plate winner, defending his title, was Kevan McKenzie who beat Shirley Moody in another close game.

THE Pine Hauliers meat pack attracted 25 players on Wednesday of last week when four teams won both of their games and Kevan and Jillian McKenzie drew each other and ran out comfortable winners with 2 wins, + 25.

In second place with 2 wins, + 19, were Ross White and Kevin Ginbey.

Two shots behind, and in third place, were Rodney Garner and Ike Bridges, with a further shots behind on 2 wins, + 15, were the triples team of Grahame Old, Tom Cant and Vicki Daniel.

Jim Tyler won the target jackpot.

The 

Snow women’s bowls club fours were held on September 27 and October 2 and the winners were skipper Gayle Riley, Ann Barrett, Kath Cluning and Nora Keen with the winning score of six points, plus 8. Runners-up were skipper Kerry Scott, Kath McElroy, Judy Saunders and Kath Heil with 4 points,plus 7.

Last Friday, four Collie players travelled to Eaton for the Zone Friendship Day. It was a pop stick start for 104 players. Two Collie players, Kerry Scott and Ann Barrett, joined two Dunsborough players, Gail Barry and Jem Coupar, to be the winners on the day. They won both games and finished with a plus 30. 

 At Boyanup on Saturday the pennant teams had mixed results with the team skippered by Gayle Riley, Kath Cluning, Kath McElroy and Vicki Daniel recording a very good win against Eaton. The other team skipper Lyn Mitchell, Ann Barrett, Nora Keen and June Henderson lost to Busselton.

FIXTURES for this week –

Friday afternoon, pennant practice; Saturday, pennants; Sunday, scroungers 9.15am for 9.30am; Tuesday, pennants; Wednesday, meat pack 12.45pm for 1pm. All players are responsible for checking the board for pennant teams and venues.

Women fixtures –

B and K Scott championship pairs started last Thursday and will be played today and finish next Thursday. Division one Pennants started on Tuesday and Division two start next week Tuesday. Please see notice board for teams.
