The Collie Power Soccer Club is striving for success in pre-season, hoping to re-capture last year’s award-winning successes.
President Shane Cole said 2017 marks a re-build season, with seven starting players moving on from the club.
“There’s going to be a lot of re-building, a lot of youth – a few senior players mixed in – so it’ll be a good year for a re-build but results wise we will still be competitive in most games but it’s going to be a learning curve I think for the club for both men’s and women’s,” he said.
Shane first played for the club as 14 year old back in 1996.
He went on to join the Collie Power Club Committee five years ago.
The Collie Power Soccer Club men’s side won the 2016 Division 1 League title and Division 1 South West Cup last year.
Collie Power Soccer Club vice president Rhett Sutherland said it was a long and rewarding journey between league championship victories.
“We hadn’t won for eight years before last year so for me personally I was there for all of that and it’s good to actually win the majority of games,” he said.
The women’s side played in the South West Soccer Association Premier league, finishing fifth out of eight clubs last season.
The side, coached by Jeff Allen, will be playing in the league season this year.
The team won the 2015 reserves championship, their first ever major trophy.
