EILEEN Riley finished with 75 nett when winning the ladies’ A-grade golf stroke event for the Captain and Vice-captain’s trophies last week.
Playing well off her 19 handicap, Riley finished just one stroke ahead of Shelley Barker-May, on 76, and two better than Kaye Farquhar’s 77.
Nancy Lynn got the better of Lynne Simmonds in a countback after both had scored 78 nett to win the voucher for fourth spot.
The B-grade event was also won with a score of 75 nett, returned by Judy Italiano.
Italiano was two strokes better that Betty White, on 77 nett, and four better than Olna Turner, on 79 nett.
There were four players on 81, with a countback favouring Jean Hadfield and Lee Massara who also received vouchers.
Nearest approach novelties were won by Lee Massara (No. 3) and Eileen Riley (No. 13), with longest putts going to Blanche Faries (No. 9) and Sue Earnshaw (No. 18).
Rhonda Annandale provided the event’s only birdie, recorded on the par three fourth hole.
Monthly medal winners for April were Dorothy Sullivan in the A-grade and Betty Whiter in the B-grade.
Sullivan and Whiter’s totals were 228 and 233.
They won from Kaye Farquhar on 229 and Sue Earnshaw on 236, respectively.
