Collie’s Riding Develops Abilities contingent has begun preparations for one of the biggest events on the calendar.
The annual Act.Belong.Commit RDA Winter Games takes place on Saturday, July 8 at the Gardiner Road premises.
RDA Collie secretary and carriage driving coach Vicki Lee said 60 South West riders were expected to take part in the annual gathering.
“I think it allows them to demonstrate that they have been learning skills – they haven’t just come to ride, it’s not just a therapy session they are coming to, it’s not just a behavioural therapy session – they can actually take that skill and compete in an arena against anyone else that is on horseback,” she said.
Ms Lee said the games provided the opportunity to network, meet other people in similar circumstances, see another area of the South West and volunteer for a noble event.
Events in this year’s games include barrel racing, key hole, bounce, western bending and knock the block.
The day also includes adventure trail, best dressed and fancy dressed events.
RDA Collie will also take part in the State Games in September.
The group has begun looking for a new treasurer and secretary.
