Insurance company SGIO has data which places Collie second on a list of places in Western Australia for animal-related vehicle collisions.
There were 25 claims for animal-related collisions in Collie for the 2015 calendar year, coming second only to Margaret River who recorded 26 claims through SGIO.
An SGIO spokesperson said animal crashes occur most frequently around dawn and dusk, when animals, especially kangaroos, become more active and are in search of food and water.
“If you see an animal on the road and it is safe to stop, do so away from incoming traffic. Approach any wildlife with caution, large injured wildlife can pose a safety risk,” they said.
