Collie Veterinary Services have won a state award from Riding Develops Abilities Western Australia (RDAWA) for their involvement with the Collie branch of RDA.
Collie RDA nominated the local vet services to acknowledge their ongoing commitment to helping maintain the health of horses at the facility.
The annual awards acknowledge those who have made a contribution to RDA centres across the state.
RDA Collie manager Jo Williams said she was grateful for the support they receive from Collie Veterinary Services.
“Each centre was asked to nominate various people for various awards such as coach, horse etc and there was the local business partner of the year award and Collie RDA nominated Collie Veterinary Services,” she said.
“We are very pleased of course, we nominated them but we didn’t choose them, they were chosen by our RDAWA sponsors which are the Community TAB and Lavan Legal.”
“Staff from those organisations chose the winner out of all the state nominations, and interestingly the finalists were all vets that support various RDA centres across the state and Collie won.”
Ms Williams said the local vets perform regular check-up’s at the centre.
“They do all sorts of work and they are very supportive with our horse’s routine health and also when there is emergencies fortunately they are always there for us,” she said.
Collie Veterinary Services manager Nick Edis said they were grateful to receive the award.
“We feel incredibly privileged to be able to work with such a wonderful organisation that gives everything back to the community,” he said.
“We are looking forward to increasing that relationship and building on it and moving forward and we are absolutely blown away to be receiving such a wonderful award.”
