The Collie BMX Club has received a grant to continue upgrading the club’s kitchen facilities.
Federal Member for O’Connor Rick Wilson visited the club last week to announce the $9000 grant, which came from the Stronger Communities funding program.
“I had a good look through the current kitchen and could see this grant would be put to great use,” Mr Wilson said.
Collie BMX Club president Rachael Williams said the grant would allow the club to complete the kitchen upgrades.
“The club’s really excited that we’re going to be able to finish doing up the kitchen,” she said.
“We’ve put the redevelopment of the kitchen into two stages and this is the second stage, where we actually fit out the kitchen with benches, range hoods, fridges and running water. We’ve actually got no plumbing at the moment.”
Ms Williams also said the grant would be used to replace appliances which had been stolen from the kitchen.
The previous stage of the kitchen upgrade included replacing termite-damaged walls and ceilings, a new floor and the installation of a security system.
Ms Willams said the club hoped the upgrades would be completed by mid-2018.
