YEAR 7
On Saturday the year 7 side played Harvey at the St Brigid's school oval while the year 8 team had a bye.
Collie batted first with Blake Shepherd and Oliver McLean opening. Unfortunately Shepherd was out early for 0 and then McLean followed soon after for 4.
Josh Elliott and Lucas Worlley were next in and both batted well.
Elliott was hitting the ball well finding boundaries while Worlley was pushing around for singles, until Lucas managed to hit his first ever four.
Elliott hit a nice six off his 35th ball that landed right in the middle of team-mates sitting on the edge of the feild, and retired on 37.
Monty Dallywater came in next and along with Worlley took Collie to 2/86 off the first 15 overs.
Dallywater opened the bowling and for the first time this season the 'weapon' wasn't able to take a wicket in his first over.
Monty bowled four overs for the game and finished with 0/18. Cody Irvine (2 overs, 0/8) and Deegan Cummings (2 overs, 0/9) were also unable to make a breakthrough.
Blake Shepherd and Blake Rees, who both continue to improve as the season goes on, came on next and started the wicket balls rolling.
Shepherd bowled 2/5 and Rees got the third wicket.
Lucas Worlley bowled 0/11 and Oliver McLean 0/4 with Harvey 3/77.
With a lead of nine runs, the two youngest guns Worlley and Dallywater resumed batting.
The pair hung around together for a while before Dallywater was out for 8.
Cody Irvine joined Worlley and also batted well to keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Worlley then made the 35-ball retirement with 14 not out. This brought Deegan Cummings to the crease who went about continuing on from his 50 in the last game.
Cummings was belting the ball everywhere and Irvine also found the boundary a few times to help accelerate the run rate. Irvine joined the retirement party finishing on 23 from his 35 balls.
Cummings then notched up his second half century in a row in under 30 balls with 10 boundaries, finishing the game on 54 not out.
Marshall Putland came in towards the end and done well to score 10 not out and once again showed great promise for a first year player.
Blake Rees scored 4 before he was out bowled by Collie team mate Archie Boyle who was playing for Harvey on the day. Collie finished the 30 overs on 4/201.
With Harvey short on numbers, Archie Boyle and Jett Pike went across to play for them, making the game have the required nine-a-side.
Boyle made two runs and bowled 1/37, while Pike unfortunately was out for 0 and bowled 0/31. Great job by those two boys.
Harvey resumed batting and never really looked like chasing Collie's massive total.
Josh Elliott put the foot further down by taking 3/7 from 3 overs and found himself on a hat-trick with a brilliant caught and bowled, but couldn't manage the feat.
Marshall Putland bowled 0/3 before Blake Rees come back on to take the last wicket and finish with 3.2 overs 2/4. Harvey was all out at 8/117 as Collie won by 84 runs.
