Last Saturday, Collie fifth-grade played Burekup at Roche Park. Collie won the toss and chose to bat with Brad Davidson and Nigel Irvine opening.
Davidson was first out bowled with the score 1/11.
Rory Bebbington joined Irvine and the pair batted well to put on 42 before Rory was run out for 19 and the score 2/53. Unfortunately Billy Bebbington followed at 3/53 when he was bowled.
Aaron Worlley then joined Irvine and the pair got Collie to 3/74 at the 20 over drinks break.
After drinks Worlley looked to push the score along while Irvine provided steady support.
A partnership of 66 was ended when Irvine was stumped for 43 and Trent Butcher came to the crease at 4/119.
Butcher didn't waste any time getting into his innings, hitting his first two balls for four.
Worlley then brought up his 50 and was caught next ball, leaving the score 5/139.
James Jasorski came in and scored four before he was bowled, then Colombera followed caught for one and Collie were 7/148.
When Brendon Latham was bowled for 0, the score was 8/151 with around five overs left to try bat out.
Butcher then provided some entertainment and hit 3 6's in four balls before being caught for a very handy 37.
Kim Rush was then bowled for 0 and Collie finished on 170, the team’s highest score for the season.
Kim Rush opened with Ricky Colombera and the "river rat" was about to put on a clinic.
Rush took the first wicket bowled with the score on seven, then made it 2/12 with an LBW and 3/12 with another next ball caught by Worlley.
After just missing out on a hat-trick, the Collie champ got another LBW two balls later to make the score 4/13.
Colombera (4 overs 1/11) decided it was his turn for a wicket and picked up another LBW to make it 5/15.
Rush then completed his 5 for with a wicket bowled from the first ball of his fifth over, and at that stage had 5/4 from 4.1 overs.
Adam Johnson replaced Colombera and bowled well without luck in four overs 0/13.
After six overs from Rush, James Jasorski (4 overs 1/10) came on and bowled with good pace, picking up the seventh wicket with a LBW and the score was 7/42.
Burekup then managed to start building a partnership with a couple of experienced players at the crease.
Brothers Billy and Rory Bebbington both bowled four overs 0/19.
Aaron Worlley (3 overs 1/13) finally broke the partnership of 66 with a LBW to have Burekup 8/108.
Rush then came back on to finish the job and took his sixth wicket caught by Billy Bebbington and seventh caught by youngster Adam Worlley, fielding as a sub to finish the game.
Rushy the river rat finished with 7/21 and Burekup were all out for 108, giving Collie their first win by 62 runs.
