Wayne Waywood helped Greg Moyle make it two wins in five days when they combined to head the field in last Saturday’s two-man ambrose event at Collie Golf Club.
Moyle and Waywood had a nett 61.5 to win the Mustangs Hockey Club trophies by a stroke from veteran Phil Warburton and Garry Beard on 62.5.
Other combinations to do well were Alan Kent and David Laird 63.25, Jay Robinson and Ray Cooper 64.25, Ian and Ron Annandale 65.25, Jim Hine and Jim Larsen 66, and Graham Williams and Phil Eldridge 66.25.
The ladies contested an 18-hole stableford which was won by Dot Lawrence with 37 points, one better than Jann Mead’s 36.
Novelties were generously provided by the sponsors on all 18 holes.
Last week’s Tuesday leisure day stableford was won in convincing fashion by Greg Moyle.
“Noddy” has had a lean run in recent times but his 43 points was a pointer of things to come. He was four clear of Frank Battista on 39 with Geoff Lee a further stroke back on 38.
Others to win vouchers included club champ Chris Stewart on 37, a score also returned by Ray Alp.
Ray Cooper, Dean Rakich and Bruce Roberts were rewarded for scores of 35.
Des Hebb was the best of the vets in the field, compiling a very tidy 37 points.
Jim Moyses had the nearest second shot on No. 4, while nearest the pins were won by Alby Hunter (7) and Des Hebb (14), with Hunter also landing the longest putt on No. 18.
The other longest putt novelty went to Ray Alp on No. 9.
Alby Hunter recorded a break out win in last Thursday’s nine-hole scroungers event, winning on a spin of the wheel from Jay Robinson and Eric Annandale after all three had posted a score of 22 points.
Others to do well were Phil Eldridge 21, Ron Annandale, George Newlands 20, Jim Moyses, Chris Stewart, George Dorozenko, Kim Metcalffe and Ed Riley 19.
Jim Larsen (No. 4), Chris Stewart (6) and Michael Jack (9) won the novelties.
Best gross was the 36 off-the-stick returned by Chris Stewart.
