Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray
2017 is coming to an end and what a year it’s been.
Thank you for all your support in re-electing me to represent our community. It’s an honour to do the job and one that I love doing.
This election was particularly momentous because after eight and a half years in opposition, the WA Labor Party re-claimed government. The electorate now benefits from having their member in government and I am very pleased to be the first Minister for this seat in 109 years.
We’ve already delivered on many of our commitments to this region. I’m looking forward to continuing to get the job done in 2018.
As people descend on the South West during this time, I encourage everyone to promote our region. The more people stop in to the Collie area, the better for our town and economy.
If you’re heading out on the roads or spending time in and around water, please stay safe.
From my family to yours, wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Federal Member for O’Connor Rick Wilson MP
Well, what a year it’s been! It’s hard to believe that another year has passed us by, and the holiday season is already upon us.
Make no mistake – this has been a tumultuous year for our nation. I have no doubt that in the years ahead, Australians will reflect on 2017 as a period of landmark reform.
The Government passed education reforms to will improve how funding is distributed to schools. Over the next decade, funding to schools in O’Connor will increase year on year by an average of 6.2 per cent.
It was a pleasure to open my new office in town. Collie has only been part of my electorate for a year and it's been a delight to get to know you and deliver grants to worthy causes.
I look forward to working with you and in particular the Collie Motorplex group to deliver much-needed upgrades.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need my help.
From my family to yours, warm wishes for a merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.
Shire of Collie president Sarah Stanley
Another year draws to a close, and the holiday season is upon us. For me, this time of year is a time for reflection.
As a Shire, and as a community, and personally for many us, this year has been a big one.
We’ve faced challenges and continued to work hard on projects including new mountain bike trails and the Motorplex track extension.
We’re starting to see the fruits of years of planning and work with awards on a regional and state-wide scale.
This time of year is also about fellowship with friends. We welcomed three new councillors and one councillor back to the fold, and thanked four others for their years of service.
In 2018 we will be focused on working collaboratively to diversify our economy. You can help by sharing stories about what a fantastic place we live in.
We wish you a safe and merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Collie Police Senior Sergeant Heath Soutar
It is with pride I look back on the efforts of staff here over the last year. As a team we have worked hard to deliver quality policing services in a unique and at times challenging environment.
I acknowledge our strategic partners and the community who work with us to achieve mutual goals.
If going away – ‘Make it Tougher For Crooks’. Thieves pick easy targets, you can help frontline police by being aware and making small changes to how you look after your valuables and home.
Please stay safe on our roads. Double demerit points come into force from midnight Thursday December 22 and remain in place until midnight Sunday January 8. Our traffic efforts will see highly visible, with police enforcing those offences strongly associated with serious crashes.
On behalf of the Collie Police I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and safe and prosperous New Year.
