The Shire of Collie council unanimously voted to move the boxing program from Roche Park at the last ordinary council meeting of 2017.
The council passed a motion at the December 12 meeting that would see the program and all its equipment moved from Roche Park to the Collie PCYC, where the program would continue with extra help.
The boxing program had been running at Roche Park since March 2013, but the departures of two of the original three coaches had left the program unsustainable due to the time pressure on the remaining coach.
The council also passed a motion that the boxing ring and equipment would stay in Collie if the PCYC disbands the program in the future.
According to the council meeting agenda, the equipment was purchased through program fees and community donations with the intent that the equipment would always be available for the youth of Collie.
