On Saturday, January 6, five young ladies went to Gosnells to compete in the annual multi event.

Two of those girls were awarded with gold and silver medals for their efforts.

A new record was broken at Gosnells by An-ne Pelser and multiple personal bests achieved.

A multi event is where the athletes have to participate in a series of events, earning points for each event that they participate in.

To be eligible for a medal they must compete in all of the events.

It was a fantastic effort by the young athletes.

The Under 9s and Under 10s participated in discus, long jump, 800m, 100m and 60m hurdles.

Under 11s participated in shot put, long jump, 800m, 100m and 60m hurdles.

Multi event results:

Under 9 Marni Bercene:

Personal bests in 800m (3:24:99s), long jump (2.94m) and hurdles (12:83s);

Under 10 Gemma Buckle:

Gold medal with personal bests in 800m (3:05:49s) and long jump (3.52m);

Under 11 Nina Bercene:

Personal bests in 800m (3:38:75s) and hurdles (13:53s);

Under 11 Emily Davenport:

Personal best in 800m (3:22:84s);

Under 11 An-ne Pelser:

Silver medal, a new record in shotput with a throw of 8.78m.

Several Little Athletes will be competing in Bunbury on the Australia Day long weekend, over a three-day competition at the Country Championships.

The club wishes them all the very best of luck.
