On January 20, Noah Carter was the sole competitor from Collie to compete in Belmont for the 1500 metre invitational event.
There were four events on offer with the 1500m being an open run for Under 11-U13 boys, then the U14-U17. The top three Belmont Centre's athletes and the top three visitors being presented with medals for the 1500m run.
Noah competed in the 200m, coming second in his heat and eighth out of about 20 athletes overall and setting a new personal best with a time of: 33.25s; the high jump equaling his PB and placing 14th; shot put placing eighth and setting a new PB with a throw of 5.61m; 1500m setting a new PB, coming in second overall and first for the visitors, for which he received the gold medal with a time of 6:20:35s.
The 1500m run is a handicapped event where the athletes run in time order, from longest time to shortest time.
Noah started off in 20th position out of 37.
Next weekend Collie has 17 athletes registered to participate in the Country Championships in Bunbury.
