Collie Police are investigating an unusual burglary this week.
Acting Senior Sergeant Bamber said that an offender had broken into a vacant property on Deakin Street sometime between January 28 and 29.
He said the offender had smashed a hole in the window of a bathroom at the rear of the property and had rifled through boxes but it didn’t appear anything was taken except for a set of keys.
However, Acting Senior Sergeant Bamber said it had appeared that the offender may have spent the night in the property as the bed appeared to have been slept in.
Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area is urged to contact Collie Police.
Police are also investigating another burglary that occurred at a property on Wallsend Street.
Acting Senior Sergeant Bamber said that the elderly occupant of the home returned after two weeks away to find the house had been broken into.
He said that the burglary would have occurred sometime between January 13 and January 30.
Several household items were stolen in the burglary.
The burglaries continue a recent spate of crimes targetting vacant properties. Anyone who sees any suspicious activity around vacant properties is urged to contact police to investigate.
Police are also investigating an egging incident.
At around 11am on Friday, January 26, a white dual cab ute pulled up outside with three occupants pulled up outside a property on Ogden Street and threw eggs at a parked car.
Acting Senior Sergeant Bamber said the car received minor damage to the paint work.
He also said that police have CCTV footage of the incident and are continuing to investigate.
Acting Senior Sergeant Bamber also said that police are investigating a failure to stop incident that occurred on January 28.
At around 3:40pm, a black Holden Astra with black licence plates failed to stop for a police vehicle after a speeding offence along the Coalfields Highway in Worsley.
Acting Senior Sergeant Bamber said police initially chased the vehicle, but eventually stopped the pursuit.
Anyone who may recognise the vehicle should contact Collie Police.
