Collie Police are calling for witnesses who may have seen an assault in Soldiers Park on Tuesday, February 6.
Senior Sergeant Heath Soutar said a man was driving along Johnston Street towards town about 5:45pm when a rock was thrown at his car.
The man got out of his car and confronted the youths he thought were responsible near the entrance to Soldiers Park, which led to an altercation and the man was assaulted.
The man received head injuries as a result of the assault but was released from hospital later that night.
Senior Sergeant Soutar said police were calling on anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and talk to police.
He also said the incident serves as a reminder for people to not take the law into their own hands.
“If you have a rock thrown at you, don’t stop and confront people involved,” he said.
“Call the police straight away and we will come down and investigate.
“If you can take a photo of those involved, that’s great, but don’t confront them.”
Senior Sergeant Soutar said police are aware of and are actively working towards resolving the issue of rock throwing around town.
He said police were ‘doing their best’ to catch the offenders and that police had made a significant development within the last few weeks, with two juveniles charged with endangering the safety of another person in relation to a rock-throwing incident.
The two youths were given curfew conditions that limit their ability to be out on the streets at night. They will also appear in the Children’s Court.
