The Collie Eagles women’s team have hit the track for preseason training ahead of their inaugural season.
Collie Eagles president Ashley Stewart said the club was ‘really excited’ to have a women’s team competing in the SWFL this season.
“We have a great group of girls and everyone at the club is excited to have them join us,” he said.
Mr Stewart said the response to the team from the community had been positive, with a ‘fairly good’ number of women turning up for preseason training.
He also said the club hadn’t found a coach for the team yet, but expected hat would happen soon.
“We haven’t been successful in getting a coach yet,” he said.
“But we have got a coordinator that is out there with the girls running the training sessions.”
Mr Stewart said the team had been out on the track training every Thursday evening ahead of the season, which begins with a bye in round one.
The team will play its first game against fellow newcomer Eaton in round two, in late April.
Mr Stewart also said the team would get its first taste of the competition during a preseason carnival in late March.
