Fairview Primary School students are enjoying the use of a new basketball court after the school received a state government grant to upgrade its facilities.
Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray visited the school on Friday, February 9 to inspect the new courts with Fairview students.
Fairview Primary School had been awarded $20,000 under the Local Projects, Local Jobs grant program to fund the upgrade of the basketball courts and the development of a meeting room.
Mr Murray said he was pleased to see state government funding being used to improve sporting facilities.
“These projects funded by Local Projects, Local Jobs have a twofold effect on benefitting the community and creating good work opportunities,” Mr Murray said.
“Upgrading facilities provides immediate work for tradespeople to carry out the work.
“And by investing in our local schools, it also ensures our kids get a well-rounded education, providing them with opportunities for employment when they enter the workforce.”
