The newly-formed Friends of the Collie River were at Minninup Pool for their first outing on Saturday, February 17.
The group were planting reeds along the banks of the Collie River in order to stabilise areas that are beginning to erode, in order to preserve the natural amenity of the river.
The Friends of the Collie River was formed jointly by the Rotary Club of Collie and the Shire of Collie in order to support the shire’s Collie River Revitalisation Plan.
Friends of the Collie River coordinator Donna Davies said the group intends to help rehabilitate the river through regular plantings, rubbish clean-ups, weeding along with other activities.
