Collie Lawn Tennis Club started the club championships at the weekend in both the juniors and seniors.
In the morning, in windy weather, the juniors started in a number of doubles and singles events. This tournament will continue next weekend with competition players to be at the club by 8.15am.
Players in the Unity coaching need to attend at the usual times. Last week’s award winners were Austin C, Mackayla, Cael E, Dylan S, Hunter C and Alexander D.
Juniors are reminded that the sausage sizzle and presentations will take place on March 24 from 11am-1pm.
Seniors started out with the singles events on Saturday. A ladies event was held for the first time in four years, with a fairly evenly balanced competition. The final was played between Sara Cole and Chrischelle Davis, with Davis being the winner in two sets. Jac Hollins successfully defended his singles crown with a win over John Dowey.
This weekend will see the mixed doubles, men’s and ladies doubles events played. Please check the Facebook page for the start times.
Note to senior members: The AGM will be held at 3pm on March 24 at the clubrooms. This is the time to put your hand up and help out your club and make it grow.
The senior wind-up and presentations will be held on April 14.
