Fifty-four players turned up for the club sponsored event on Saturday. With the course in excellent condition the scores also reflected this.
In a last minute decision to play, Colin Naysmith won the event with 42 points to secure the narrowest of victories. Col hardly put a foot wrong all day with accuracy off the tee and a fine putting display.
Denis Cocker played a solid game as well coming in as runner-up with 41 points. Jamie Thomson continued the good scoring with third place with 40 points. Trevor McCormick, Steven Ireland and Ken Tate all had 38 while the Annandales, Eric and Ron, had 37, followed by Chris Bliss on 36.
Six ladies played and Debbie Van Vollenstee was rewarded for effort of 35 points to be the leading lady.
Novelties winners: No. 4 Dean Rakich and Deb Van Vollenstee, No. 6 Ken Tate, No. 7 Kev Ireland, No. 9 Rob Cavanagh, No. 12 Dot Lawrence, No 14 Trizzy, No. 15 Redgie, No. 18 Redgie.
On Tuesday 38 players took to the fairways for the club sponsored Leisure Day trophy.
In a close contest Alex Tweedie had 38 points to win the event. Alex won a countback, edging out Corey Slater and Corey Old both on 38.
Next on 37 points was Roger Hunter from Des Hebb and Denis Cocker all on 36. The best vet on the day went to Greg Bell with 37 points. A special mention to Stephen Miller who eagled the par 4 sixth hole.
Thursday scroungers attracted 54 players with Stephen Miller prevailing with 20. Jim Moyses returned 19 followed by Ed Riley, Mark Malatesta and Denis Cocker all on 18.

The 2018 ladies winter golf season commenced on Wednesday, April 4 with 24 players taking part in a stableford competition for trophies donated by Collie Betta Home Living.
The winner of the A-grade with the excellent score of 36 points was the long hitting Deb VanVollenstee. Winning the three-way countback for second place with 33 points was Dion Smallwood, ahead of Shelley Barker-May and Kaye Farquhar.
In the B-grade, Heather Dabrowski took first place with the good score of 34 points. Runner-up was Kath Alcorn on 31, followed by Sue Earnshaw winning countback from Rhonda Annandale, both on 30 points. Fifth place went to Annette Atherton on 29 points.
Novelties were won by E. Riley (Shoeland), D. Smallwood (Deluxe Hair), R. Annandale (Sportfirst).
On Friday, April 6 the Collie Golf Club hosted their South West Ladies Open Day, which was generously sponsored by the Dorsett family from Bunbury. The Dorsetts have had a long association with the Collie Golf Club going back to the days of Norm Dorsett sponsoring the prestigious mixed foursome events.
With a field of 82 players representing 10 South West clubs, playing a Canadian stableford, the day was very successful.
The nett winners were local players Lorraine and Rhonda Annandale combining extremely well to score 44 points. Second place went to visitors J. Murray and L. Wake with 41 points, followed by Boyup Brook players S. Sanderson and W. Tuckett on 36.
The gross winners were Pam Davey and Robyn Peet from Harvey with 21 gross points ahead of J. Anderson and J. Depaoli on 20. Third place went to locals A. Ireland and C. Swan on 19.
