The Collie Eagles reserves team started their season off with a dominating 107 point win over the Augusta Margaret River Hawks.
The Eagles had 37 scoring shots while limiting the Hawks to just five in the 19.18 (132) to 4.1 (25) victory.
The Eagles dominated from the outset, kicking five goals to one in the first quarter to take a 32 point into the first break.
The Eagles turned up the pressure in the second term and added eight more goals, while keeping the Hawks scoreless, to lead by 83 points at half time.
The game was much more even after the long break and the Hawks were able to limit the free-scoring Eagles to just six goals in the second half while adding three of their own.
Luke Abbott led the way with five goals for the Eagles, while Jak Mounsey and Ijah Coyle added four and three majors respectively.
It was a completely different tale for the colts, as the Eagles fell to Augusta Margaret River by 106 points.
The damage was done early as the Hawks kept Collie scoreless in the first quarter and led by 30 points at the first break.
The lead stretched even further in the second quarter before an eight goal to none third quarter gave the Hawks a triple digit lead with a quarter to play.
The Eagles finished on a high though, kicking two goals to one in the final quarter for the 18.21 (129) to 3.5 (23) result.
Bailey Edwards, Sam Salmeri and Jaxon Woodhouse were the goal kickers for the Eagles.
The Collie Eagles’ women’s team have to wait a week longer than everyone else to start their season, with a bye in the first round.
