The historic Fettler’s Park cottages in Boyanup will undergo renovations after a state government grant of $10,000 was awarded to the Boyanup Progress Association.
The Local Projects Local Jobs funding will allow the three existing former railway workers' cottages on Bridge Street to be upgraded so they can be used or leased for arts and crafts, local produce and cultural purposes.
The cottages are more than 65 years old and two were built in the United Kingdom and eventually transported to Australia, where they have become a valued part of Boyanup’s history.
Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray said it would be good to see the cottages returned to their former glory..
“These cottages are of significant importance and heritage value to the Boyanup community,” Mr Murray said.
“It’s amazing these cottages are still standing – one of them only just!
"So I’ll be pleased to see a revamp to heighten their interest for the local community and visitors to Boyanup.”
